Canon-McMillan Seeking Hall of Honor Nominees

Categories include academia/scholastic achievement, athletic achievement, artistic achievement, citizenry and valor.

The Canon-McMillan School District is now accepting nominations for its Hall of Honor, which recognizes individuals who, through their accomplishments or contributions, have distinguished themselves in academia, athletics, arts, citizenry or valor. 

This includes honoring alumni or any other community members who have made significant contributions to the Canon-McMillan School District community and is at least 30 years old.

Categories include: academia/scholastic achievement, athletic achievement, artistic achievement; citizenry, performing outstanding service to the community, and valor, having distinguished themselves through heroic acts or outstanding service to others, community and/or country.

Among the inductees last year was Anthony "Tony" Colaizzo, a former Canonsburg mayor and state representative.

The Hall of Honor was created to recognize members of the Canon-McMillan community who have honored the district with their accomplishments and contributed to the growth and positive image of the district.

The district has a Hall of Honor football game when the new members are announced.

Also, in early summer, the new members are inducted at a banquet in their honor and the plaques are unveiled. 

New members are recognized with certificates from the Pennsylvania State House and the U.S. Congress.
