CMHS Celebrates Wrestling Champions

The high school held a pep rally to honor its wresting team Friday, which won the state championship last week.

In more than 30 years of coaching, Canon-McMillan Athletic Director Guy Montecalvo said his heart never raced faster than during the match that clenched the PIAA Team Tournament Title for the high school wrestling team this year.

Montecalvo joined school officials and local dignitaries Friday afternoon for a pep rally to congratulate the team—which aims to make history and also win the upcoming PIAA Individual Tournament in two weeks.

U.S. Rep. Tim Murphy joined state Rep. Brandon Neuman and state Sen. Tim Solobay in honoring the team and its coaches—handing citations to each member of the wrestling team, which stood at center court while the rest of the student body looked on.
