Liner Contract Awarded in Canonsburg—Town Park Pool to Open in 2013

This means that Town Park Pool is on pace to open for the 2013 season.

Town Park Pool fans: Canonsburg Council on Monday awarded the contract to install a new liner—which means the venerable summer venue is slated to open on time for the 2013 season.

With a low bid of $135,000, Andy’s Pool Service of Point Marion, Ohio, was awarded the liner replacement project at Town Park Pool, borough Manager Terry Hazlett said Tuesday.

Only one other bid was received.

No bids were received by the original Sept. 10 deadline, so council extended it one week in an attempt to get the pool liner installed before winter.

At the August council meeting, the Parks and Recreation Board informed council that because of the deteriorating condition of the current liner, the pool would not be able to open in 2013 unless a new one was installed this fall.

The liner is being financed by fundraisers, including a “Dine in the Pool” event Sept. 29., route: {:controller=>"articles", :action=>"show", :id=>"help-save-town-park-pool-dinner-and-dancing-event-planned"} --> Council
