Obituary: Daniel R. Bruno

Dec. 17, 1929-May 14, 2012

Daniel R. Bruno, 82, of Canonsburg, died peacefully Monday, May 14, 2012, in Canonsburg General Hospital. He was born Dec. 17, 1929, in Canonsburg, a son of Philip and Rose Turco Bruno. Daniel was a lifelong Canonsburg resident and was a barber for 30 years. He was then employed by the Pennsylvania Liquor Control Board for 10 years. He served with the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict and was a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 191. He was a devoted family man and a good friend to all who knew him. Obituary: Gertrude 'Trudy' Slesinski

Gertrude "Trudy" Slesinski, 91, of Strabane Woods, Washington, PA, formerly of Canonsburg, died Monday, May 14, 2012, in Canonsburg General Hospital. She was born on Jan. 18, 1921 in Canonsburg, a daughter of Roman and Florence Dombrowski Slesinski. Prior to her retirement, she worked as an immigration inspector for the Department of Immigration and Naturalization Services. She was a former member of St. Genevieve Church and a member of St. Patrick's Church of Canonsburg, the Catholic Daughters of America and Orchard Lake Society. She is survived by her brother, Alfred "Sayles" Slesinski and his wife, Florence, of Michigan; and three sisters, Theresa Phillips, Regina Dzikowski and Frances Lesko. Stella Kordella, 92, of Mentor, OH, formerly of Canonsburg, died Friday, May 11, 2010 in Tri-Point Medical Center. She was born on April 12, 1920 in Washington, PA, a daughter of Joseph and Helen Krawczyk Kolanko. Prior to moving to Mentor, she resided in Canonsburg, where she was a homemaker. She was a former member of Sacred Heart of Jesus Polish National Catholic Church and an active member of the Society for the Adoration of the Most Blessed Sacrament. Stella and her husband actively participated in the perogi making projects at the church. She was also a former member of the Canonsburg Senior Center. Judith Cannon Graff, 65, of Canonsburg, died Tuesday, May 8, 2012, in St. Clair Memorial Hospital. She was born on May 20, 1946 in North Strabane Township, a daughter of the late Robert and Eleanor Dayton Cannon. Judith was a member of St. Patrick Parish, Order of the Eastern Star Chartiers Chapter, Democratic Women, Italian American Society and Women's Auxiliary of the American Legion. She attended Canon-McMillan schools and, before retirement, worked as a secretary for Black Box Corp. for 28 years. She is survived by her husband, Joseph V. Graff Sr.; two sons, Joseph V. Michael Sifinski, 53, of Houston, died unexpectedly Saturday, May 5, 2012, in his home. He was born on March 21, 1959, in Canton, OH, a son of Raymond and Dolores Powell Sifinski. Michael attended Canton schools and graduated from nursing school in Pittsburgh. He last worked as an LPN for Washington County Health Center. He was a Catholic. G. Donald Hutchinson, 77, of Canonsburg, died Monday April 23, 2012 in McMurray Hills Manor. He was born June 27, 1934 in Canonsburg, a son of the late George and Laura McMillan Hutchinson. He was a member of the Canonsburg United Presbyterian Church, where he served as a deacon and choir director, the Canonsburg Volunteer Fire Department and the Knights of Pythias. Don also was a member of the Silent Knights Pantomime Group. Prior to his retirement, he worked as a scheduler for PPG Industries and later drove school bus for Canon-McMillan. Richard N. "Dick" Toci, 62, of Eighty Four, suddenly on Saturday, April 7, 2012. Beloved husband of Madeline (Chapman) Toci; loving father of Anthony "Tony" (Jennifer) Toci and Matthew John Toci; grandfather of Bishop, Caleb and Miya Toci; brother of Angelo James (Donna) Toci, Jr., Catherine (Robert) O'Connor, Ester (Ronald) Markwood and Florence (Tom) Moran. Richard Paul Goodell, 43, of Strabane, died unexpectedly Thursday, March 22, 2012. He was born July 13, 1968 in Midland, Michigan, a son of Nancy Kuch LaDig of East Tawas, Michigan, and the late David Goodell. Mr. Goodell graduated from Tawas High School, Tawas, Michigan. He served with the U.S. Navy during Desert Storm. He worked as a custodian for Peters Township High School. He was an avid hunter and a member of the Canonsburg Sportsmen’s Club. He enjoyed spending time with his daughters and motorcycle riding.
