RECAP/STATS: Highlanders Smack Macs, 31-7

Canon-McMillan will not make the 2012 playoffs; Baldwin is still in the hunt.

Looking very much like the quarterback whom his head coach says that he is, Baldwin High School sophomore Doug Altavilla threw for 248 yards and two touchdowns to lead his team to a 31-7 win over Canon-McMillan High School in a WPIAL AAAA Southeastern Conference football game on Friday night. In the first half alone, Altavilla completed eight of nine passes for 240 yards and both TDs. He finished the game going 9-for-13 against the host Big Macs (1-7 overall, 1-6 Southeastern), even though …

RESULTS: 2012 WPIAL Track & Field Championships

The boys and girls event was held at Baldwin High School on Thursday night.

The Pittsburgh Post-Gazette has received a list of the medalists from the 2012 WPIAL AAA boys and girls track & field championships, held at Baldwin High School on Thursday night. Congratulations to Canon-McMillan's Shawn Johnson, who took first place in the boys high jump, long jump and triple jump; Zack Soyring, who took fourth in the javelin, and Alec Rideout, who took seventh in the shot put. On the girls' side, congratulations to Mira Carrozza, who took first place in javelin; and Anna Lombardo, who took sixth place in both the discus and javelin events. As first-place winners, Shawn and Mira automatically qualify to compete in the 2012 PIAA state championships at Shippensburg…
