Can you believe it's been two years since we launched?
I know, I know: It's difficult for me to believe that Canon-McMillan Patch is 2-years old, too. But that's how long it's been since we started covering all things Canonsburg, Cecil, North Strabane and the Canon-McMillan School District. And we've been through a lot together, news-wise, in the past year alone. There's been the fun stuff: Canonsburg's Fourth of July Parade, North Strabane's municipal park grand opening and some amazing accomplishments by Canon-McMillan staff and students. And there's been some not-so-fun-stuff ... there have been some downright tough things to write about. We've seen young people charged with homicide and we've lived through winter storms and even Hurricane Sandy. Then there is one of the state's most …

Editor's Note: Canon-McMillan Patch is part of a larger Patch network that serves as the eyes and ears for what is happening at the grassroots level across the country in more than 850 communities in 23 states plus Washington, D.C. The company launched in 2009; Canon-McMillan Patch went online in December 2010. We have grown rapidly and people often ask how we're doing, so I thought I'd share our company's good news that was announced today (Monday). Yes, today the website turns 1. What a year it's been.
Cue the “Happy Birthday” song. Yes, my friends, it’s been a whole year since we launched Canon-McMillan Patch. And what a year it’s been. One thing’s for sure: I never had so much fun in the name of journalism. From playing mascot Art N. Canonsburg to covering the borough’s Fourth of July parade—there’s always something fun going on in the borough. Then there’s Perry (Perry Como, late crooner to those friends who check out the site but might nor realize he's a hometown boy). Borough officials dress him for the season. So far during my duties as editor of this bad boy, I’ve seen him in a Santa hat, Oktoberfest finery and Steeler gear. In Cecil Township, Marcellus Shale dominated the headlines on this community news website—with ordinances…
