Cecil Township Officials Seek Help Securing Uniform Zip Code

Hey, Cecil Township residents, which zip code do you live in? Is it 15017, or 15055? Or could it be 15057, 15317, 15321 or 15350? Yes, there are six zip codes that cover the municipality, and Cecil officials say it’s time for a change. The township is petitioning the U.S. Post Office to ask it to allow Cecil Township to have a uniform zip code. “According to the 2010 census information, Cecil Township had a 15.5 percent growth scattered throughout six different zip codes,” township Manager Don Gennuso wrote in a letter to the department. “Three of these post offices, Lawrece, Cecil and Muse, are located within our geographic area. There are communities throughout the state that have been trying to do this for a variety of reasons. I don't understand why anyone would waste resources or effort on this type of this... it's a number; a mere code - nothing more than that. I'd think the change would be more confusing than the "fix". more ›
