The school board and administration honored the award-winning team and its outgoing coach.
In a teary thank you, Canon-McMillan School Board President Darla Bowman Monaco said goodbye to varsity wrestling coach Chris Mary—who resigned Monday. Mary and his championship-winning wrestlers were recognized for their season anc accomplishments by Bowman and fellow school directors on Monday. The Canon-McMillan High School varsity wrestling team was lauded for its record of 19 wins and no losses, and for being Section 4 champions, WPIAL champions, PIAA team Dual Champions, PIAA Southwest Regional Champions and more. Cody Wiercioch, Conner Schram and Solomon Chisko were PIAA champions, Dalton Macri placed second and Alex Campbell placed eighth. School Director Manuel Pihakis said the board accepted Chris Mary's resignation with regret.
Canon-McMillan School directors on Monday accepted the resignation of varsity wrestling coach Chris Mary. School Director Manuel Pihakis said the board knew the resignation was coming, and that it was accepted "with regret." Calling Mary and his accomplishments "super," Pihakis stressed that the outgoing coach was more than just someone who helped lead his wrestlers to victory time and again (to four consecutive WPIAL team titles, for example). "He's been the greatest representative Canon-McMillan can have," the school director said, adding that Mary is respected by administrators, his team and wrestling coaches across the state." Congratulations to Canon-McMillan's Chris Mary—who was named the WPIAL Coach of the Year on Saturday night! The Canon-McMillan High School Wrestling Coach was also named the national coach of the year in 2012. His team recenty won its second state championship title.

The team recently won its second straight PIAA championship.
More accolades were given to the Canon-McMillan High School wrestling team Thursday—this time from the Washington County commissioners. The team and its coach, Chris Mary, are seen here after a certificate presentation. The wrestlers recently won their second-straight PIAA team championship. The team was also recently honored by hometown business Sarris Candies and came home from the championship in Hershey to an impromptu parade of sorts.

The Canon-McMillan School Board this week honored numerous students—including those on the high school wrestling team—for their achievements.
The Canon-McMillan High School wrestling team received more accolades for its championship season—this time from the district's board of directors. The board recognized the team at its meeting Monday, shaking hands with Coach Chris Mary and his wrestlers and handing out awards.
