Mylan Classic Set to Return to Southpointe Golf Club

New tournament eligibility will include top collegians in 2013.

Officials from the Mylan Classic announced Thursday that the Web.com Tour tournament will return to Southpointe Golf Club in Washington County in 2013 with the addition of a unique eligibility format that includes 12 invitations to collegiate All-Americans and other amateur standouts.  Special invitations will be extended to the reigning U.S. Amateur and the current NCAA individual champion, Jack Nicklaus Award winner (collegiate player of the year) and first-team All-Americans. The remaining invitations will go to U.S. Walker Cup team members, second-team All-Americans or the Division II player of the year. Canonsburg Golfers Take Top Honors at National Kidney Foundation Cadillac Golf Classic

The finals were held this past weekend.

Showing poise under pressure, Michael Cavanagh and Mike Sabota of Canonsburg and their team bested the competition at the nation’s premiere golf course over the weekend. Cavanagh and Sabota were part of the Pittsburgh-based foursome who finished in first place at the National Kidney Foundation Cadillac Golf Classic National Finals. The team shot rounds of 61-62-61 for a three-day, 184-total to win the 2013 tournament held this past weekend. The Canonsburg pair were joined by Tom Ali, a board member at NKF, of Venetia, and Bob Macosko of Bethel Park. The foursome qualified for the Pebble Beach finals by finishing in the top three of the Valley Brook Country Club NKF Cadillac Golf Classic held last year. They faced off against 50 other …

Readers' Choice: Where's Your Favorite Staycation?

With the economy tight, we want to know where in western Pennsylvania is your favorite Staycation!

We all know that the economy is tough nowadays, so we at Patch want to find ways for families to enjoy a summer vacation on the cheap. There are plenty of places to have a great summer vacation without spending a lot of money. You can go to Kennywood, ride the bike trails, spend a day at the trolley museum, relax at the local park, take in an auto race, ride a boat or hit some golf balls. We at Patch are calling it a Staycation! And we want to know where your favorite local place is to spend a weekend without spending a lot of money. With the Mylan Classic set to take place in Southpointe in less than two weeks, Canon-McMillan Patch wants to make sure you know when all the action is taking place. Canonsburg General Hospital to Host Golf Event

The event has been scheduled for Sept. 12 at Valley Brook Country Club in McMurray.

Canonsburg General Hospital’s 27th Annual Benefit Golf Tournament has been announced. The event has been scheduled for Sept. 12 at Valley Brook Country Club in McMurray. Proceeds from the tournament benefit the Patient Gateway Project at the hospital.  The event, cosponsored by the Canonsburg General Hospital Medical Staff and Angelo Falconi’s Moon Township Dealerships, includes brunch, dinner, raffle and skill prizes.
