Police, fire and EMS personnel are on the scene of a crash on Interstate 79 north near the Canonsburg exit—one that happened just after midnight Saturday, first responders said. A patient needed to be extricated from the vehicle. An emergency helicopter was called to the scene at around 12:25 a.m., according to first responders. One person was injured in a three-vehicle accident that happened on Interstate 79 Tuesday afternoon, according to media reports and first reponders. The accident had the interstate closed and traffic snarled, according to WPXI-TV. The Observer-Reporter indicated that a vehicle hit a median and then another vehicle head-on. The accident also involved a tractor-trailer, the paper indicated on its website. A Washington County 911 supervisor said state police are investigating but had no further information Tuesday afternoon.
