Mylan Classic organizers are making things simple for local folks who want to check out the national event. “Golf, music, clinics all for $25—all for charity,” organizers noted in a release. Craig Morgan, Phil Vassar, Diamond Rio, Due West, Joe Grushecky and Scott Blasey of The Clarks will be featured in the Mylan Classic’s 2012 concert series. The series will highlight the Mylan Classic’s seven-day schedule of events which begin on Monday, Aug. 27. As a community event, the Mylan Classic offers both championship golf and entertainment for the whole family. Cecil Fall Festival was packed with activities all weekend long including, bands, an improv show, raffles, and, of course, festival favorites like funnel cakes.
Popcorn was popping, Gyro’s were being stuffed, and funnel cakes were funneled into shape at the Cecil Township’s 24th annual Fall Festival last weekend. There was plenty of live entertainment Saturday at the festival. The kids could ride ponies and pet animals at the petting zoo. At the opening ceremonies at noon on Saturday, there was a memorial dedication to William "Bill" P. Burns, a life-long Cecil resident who served on the township's parks and recreation board for 10 years. Burns died April 23. Pavilion #3 was dedicated in his name. Later that afternoon, Dance Extensions—a group of dancers who contorted into pretzel-like shapes performed. Afterward, an improvisational comedy troupe, the Steel City Improv, performed a mini-musical. …

Officials from the Mylan Classic announced Monday that the 2011 tournament field will include PGA TOUR fan favorites John Daly and Rocco Mediate. In addition to playing in the Mylan Classic, Daly and Mediate will host a joint clinic Aug. 31, beginning at noon. Two-time major championship winner Daly, who played and won on the Nationwide Tour in 1990, will compete in the Mylan Classic for the first time this year. He has amassed five career PGA TOUR victories, plus four international wins in South Africa, Asia and Europe. The Arkansas resident has also committed to play in the Nationwide Tour’s News Sentinel Open in Knoxville, Tenn., which will be held the week before the Mylan Classic.
