The man was remanded to the Washington County Jail on $10,000 bond.
A Canonsburg man was jailed Thursday on charges that he forged official documents. Online court records indicate that John Matthew Thomas, 38, was also charged by Canonsburg police with making unsworn false statements and tampering with public records. The Observer-Reporter newspaper indicated that the charges stem from paperwork he allegedly forged to make it appear to officials that he was appealing an eviction. Thomas was arraigned Thursday before district Judge David Mark, who remanded him to the Washington County Jail on $10,000. He is scheduled to appear before Mark at 9:35 a.m. Feb. 6 for a preliminary hearing.
