Canon-McMillan School Board: Who Are You Voting for, and Why?

Tell us which candidates you're backing in the May 21 primary.

Four sitting Canon-McMillan school directors are hoping to retain their posts on the local school board, and one newcomer is also seeking a seat. There are four open seats on the board—two out of Canonsburg Borough and one each from North Strabane and Cecil townships. Current board President Darla Bowman-Monaco has cross-filed as both a Democrat and a Republican and is seeking nomination for the Cecil seat. Another candidate, Ronald Vrana, is seeking the Republican nomination for that seat. Vrana did not cross-file. Fellow current school directors Eric Kline and Paul Scarmazzi are also seeking re-election. Both have cross-filed and are seeking to secure the Democratic and Republican nominations for the open Canonsburg seats. Current school…

Five Things You Need to Know This Week

Canonsburg Council and Canon-McMillan School Board meet—and more.

It's gonna be a busy week! Here's what you need to know! 1. Canonsburg Council will hold its regular monthly meeting at 7 p.m. Monday in the borough building. 2. Canon-McMillan school directors will meet at 7 p.m. for a special voting meeting. The meeting will be held in the district administration building and will be open to the public. 3. North Strabane Township Board of Supervisors will host its nonlegislative meting at 7 p.m. Tuesday in the municipal building. 4. North Strabane Township's Parks and Recreation Department is hosting a Park and Putt mini golf event from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. at Red Carpet Mini Golf located on state Route 19. Dog Jog Planned for the Washington County Animal Response Team

Help support the Washington County Animal Response Team.

Organizers invite you to join WaCART—the Washington County Animal Response Team—at its 5K Dog Jog. The event will be held at 10 a.m. June 30 at the North Strabane Township Park. Sign-in will be at the Quail Acres Pavilion, up on the hill. Pre-registration can be completed by printing out the form on the WaCART Facebook page and mail the form and check or money order for $20 to WaCART, c/o Doug Detig, 180 Churchill Road, Venetia, PA 15367. Those who sign up before June will get a free T-shirt. Late registration—any registrations post marked June 2 or the day of the event at the Quail Acres Pavilion—is $25.
