Stop Throwing Your Fracking Fish At Our Heads

State Rep. Jesse White talks about the new movie 'Promised Land' and shares information about best practices for Marcellus Shale drilling outlined in a new report—one he said the gas industry paid for.

A publication recently surfaced from Control Risks, a renowned British company hired by the natural gas industry to analyze the opposition to drilling by hydraulic fracturing around the world. Upon review, its analysis seems pretty objective and accurate. The report distinguishes between those who ideologically oppose drilling and those who do not oppose the idea of drilling but simply want it to be done the safest way possible, which is the category I would put myself into. What’s amazing is that the only two photos of active drilling operations in the entire report are right in our backyards, in Cecil and Chartiers Townships. Got the info in the OR this morning, I don't see a problem with all chemicals found in a well being listed. The report ahould also state a list of the chemicals that the drilling companies is using in the area of these wells. Organic Farmer From Bridgeville Catches ‘Acting Bug’ in Promised Land

Troy Bogdan of Bridgeville says he caught the “acting bug” after a back injury sidelined him from working on his Crawford County organic farm last April. He played an extra in the new movie 'Promised Land' that hit theaters Friday.

Troy Bogdan, an organic farmer living in Bridgeville, says he caught the “acting bug” after a back injury sidelined him from working on his Crawford County farm last year. An audition for a role as an extra last May has snowballed into a flurry of acting parts in several movies filming around western Pennsylvania, including the major production of “Promised Land,” which opened in theaters Friday morning. “I’ve been a fan of movies all my life, but I never thought I would be working for them,” Bogdan said. “It’s a hobby and we’ll see where it goes. I don’t have any expectations of being a movie star, but maybe it can lead to part-time income to supplement the farm income. I’ll do it as long as I’m still having fun.” The work started after …

Are you a Slavic Star or a Biker Baddie? Extras Needed for Two Movies Shooting in Area

"Out of the Furnace," starring Christian Bale, and "Promised Land," starring Matt Damon, are casting for paid extras.

A new movie shooting in the area may be the perfect opportunity for pierogi-loving Pittsburghers to get on the big screen. WTAE reports Out of the Furnace, starring Oscar-winner Christian Bale, is looking for men of Slavic or Eastern European background to serve as extras in the film. Men should be age 35 or older and available to shoot on or around May 29, according to WTAE. Extras will be needed on set all day (between 12 to 14 hours) and will be paid minimum wage.  If you fit the bill, send an email with a recent photo (preferably one where you’re not smiling), contact information and age to outofthefurnaceextras@gmail.com. Casting Alert! Extras Needed for Matt Damon Movie

'Promised Land,' directed by Gus Van Sant and starring Matt Damon and John Krasinski, is searching for paid extras.

Casting reps for "Promised Land," a feature film starring Matt Damon and John Krasinski, are looking for extras to participate in bar and town hall scenes. Extras who are available for filming are asked to submit casual photos (no modeling shots) via email. A director will ultimately choose the faces, according to an announcement posted on the film's casting page on Facebook. Bar scene extras should be available to work four days in a row on May 15-18.  The town hall scene will take place over five days on May 21-25.
