Five Things You Need to Know This Week

It's a busy week. Here's what to expect.

Here's are five things you need to know about this week: 1. Canonsburg Council will hold its agenda meeting at 7 p.m. Monday in the borough building. Final approval of three-year contracts with employees. 2. Cecil Township supervisors will hold their regular monthly meeting at 7 p.m. Monday in the municipal building. 3. Chi For Health, a combination of exercise and meditation and is endorsed by the Arthritis Foundation will be held Wednesday. The session will be held at the Outpatient Care Center-Peters Township. Spring sessions for Tai Chi for Arthritis at the Outpatient Care Center in McMurray—160 Gallery Drive—are scheduled to start March 14. This six-week program is designed to help individuals suffering from arthritis relieve pain and swelling with exercise and meditation, a release states. Tai Chi is an activity that improves balance, strength and coordination while teaching relaxation helping patients who experience stiffness and discomfort associated with arthritis. The course is sponsored by West Penn Allegheny Health System's Integrated Medicine Program and Lupus Center of Excellence in cooperation with the Arthritis Foundation. The workshops will be led by J. Health System Launches Tai Chi Program for Arthritis Patients

West Penn Allegheny Health System invites arthritis patients to the Outpatient Care Center in Peters to practice Tai Chi.

Are you living with arthritis? West Penn Allegheny Health System (WPAHS) invites individuals living with arthritis to learn about the benefits of practicing Tai Chi. Two free workshops will introduce participants to the movements of Tai Chi and explain why this combination of exercise and meditation is ideal for those coping with arthritis pain and swelling. The complimentary sessions will take place on Wednesday, Oct. 12 from 4-5 p.m. and 6-7 p.m. at Allegheny General Hospital on the North Side, and on Friday, Oct. 14 from 12:30-1:30 p.m. at the WPAHS Outpatient Care Center in Peters Township.
