Target Opens at South Hills Village Mall

The new Target opened at the South Hills Village Mall and Patch got a sneak peek of the store! Click on the story to check out a photo slideshow and short video of the grand opening Tuesday!

Upper St. Clair and Bethel Park officials joined employees and VIGs (Very Important Guests) in celebrating the opening of the new South Hills Village Target Tuesday night. "The overall area is going to benefit from this," said Bob Orchowski, president of the Upper St. Clair Board of Commissioners. "I'm certain Target's going to be a great addition. Thank you and welcome." The new Target is one step below a Super Target. It includes a Starbucks and a grocery area with fresh produce. The store's "soft opening" to the public is on March 6. Its grand opening is March 10. The store is on the first floor of the former Boscov's, a building that remained vacant for years. Along with Orchowski, Bethel Park Mayor Clifford Morton, U.S. Rep. Target Holding 'Mass Hire' Event

Walk-ins are welcome.

In search for a nearby job? Get your resume ready. The new Target at South Hills Village is holding a "mass hire" event starting tomorrow. Hundreds of interviews will be conducted on Jan. 11 and 12 at the Crowne Plaza Hotel on Fort Couch Road to fill the store's hourly positions. Walk-ins are welcome. Target is slated to open on March 10.

Patch Poll: Will You Start Your Black Friday Shopping on Thanksgiving?

Several major retailers are planning to open their doors as early as 8 p.m. on Thanksgiving. Will you be waiting in line?

With each passing year, it seems Black Friday begins earlier and earlier—6 a.m., then 5 a.m., then 4 a.m. This year, Black Friday is actually starting on Thanksgiving Thursday.  Walmart has announced it will open its doors at 8 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 22, and offer holiday doorbusters while supplies last. These include deals on TVs, iPads, an electric scooter for $79 and a steam mop for $39. Not to be outdone, Target and Best Buy are also planning all-out holiday shopping assaults. Target's deals begin at 9 p.m. According to an ad leaked online, its best deals will be for TVs, a Nook tablet, a Nikon camera and an Xbox 360 Kinect bundle. At Best Buy, doors open at midnight. Doorbusters include deals on TVs, phones and Samsung laptop bundles. …
