Washington County Coroner Tim Warco ruled the death of Chad Culley an accident Tuesday evening.
A Burgettstown man died Tuesday afternoon after a quad accident, Washington County Coroner Tim Warco said in a release. He said Chad Culey, 39, of Joffre-Cherry Valley Road was operating a friend's quad on his friend's property on Joffre-Bulger Road when it was driven into a small pond, where the recreational vehicle apparently overturned. "A passing motorist discovered the quad and found the victim submerged in the water under the quad," Warco said in a statement. The manner of death for Culley is pending an autopsy.

An Avella man was killed after the motorcycle he was driving left the roadway and hit a utility pole in Cross Creek late Wednesday night. Washington County Coroner Tim Warco said Randy Scott Loughry, 48, of Peterson St., died from multiple injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene at 1:20 a.m. Thursday. “The victim was the operator and sole occupant of a Harley Davidson motorcycle that was traveling southbound on Cross Creek Road,” Warco said in a release. “The victim’s vehicle left the roadway at Paris Road and struck a utility pole. The victim was not wearing a helmet.” He ruled the death an accident. The incident is under investigation by state police in Washington.

A 45-year-old Pittsburgh man died in the crash Tuesday afternoon.
Washington County Coroner Tim Warco has identified the victim of a crash on Interstate 79 South Tuesday afternoon as Mark Anthony Chesick, 45, of Pittsburgh. Chesick died from multiple blunt force trauma after being ejected from his vehicle during the crash, Warco said. He ruled the death an accident. "The victim was the operator and sole occupant of a Ford pickup truck that was traveling northbound on Interstate 79," Warco said in a statement. "The victim’s vehicle crossed the median at mile marker 45.1 and struck a tractor trailer head on in the southbound lane. The victim was ejected from the vehicle and pronounced at the scene." Richard N. Toci of Eighty Four was found by family members Saturday morning.
An Eighty Four man died Saturday when a tree he was cutting down in a wooded area of Brownlee Road in Somerset Township fell on him, Washington County Coroner Tim Warco said. Warco said Richard N. Toci, 62, was discovered by family members. He was pronounced dead at 11:35 a.m. Saturday. His cause of death was listed as blunt force trauma. It was ruled an accident. State police in Washington are investigating.

The Washington County Coroner on Wednesday said Joseph Schneider, the 21-year-old Houston man whose body was found in Canonsburg Lake on March 24, died as a result of drowning and ruled his death an accident. The Houston man went missing March 23 after a party with friends at the house next door to Table Brick Oven & Bar. He and three friends jumped into Canonsburg Lake and attempted to swim across. His body was found 20-30 yards offshore, Peters police Capt. Michael Yanchak told Patch. Peters and North Strabane police were among the crews that responded to the scene. Schneider's friends and family held a vigil on March 26 at the lake in his honor. He was laid to rest the following day.

A jury on Friday agreed with the Washington County Coroner's Office after an inquest Friday: That the death of a Washington County Jail inmate last year was caused by a combination of drugs and alcohol. But it also said it had questions about whether or not the policies and procedures were followed at the Washington County Jail. Whether or not there was criminality involved is now in the hands of the Washington County District Attorney's Office, according to Deputy Coroner Steve Toprani. The Washington County coroner said the Union Township blaze is under investigation by the state police.
Washington County Coroner Tim Warco identified the victim in a Finleyville fire Saturday night—saying in a release that Elaine Manack died from smoke inhalation. The manner of death for Manack, 59, of Nasal Lane, is pending an investigation. A state police fire marshal is investigating the fire, where Manack and an unidentified male where found. The manner of death for Shirley J. Betters is under investigation.
The body of a Mon City woman was recovered from the Monongahela River Monday night. Shirley J. Betters, 67, of Snyder Ave. was discovered by members of a search and rescue crew near the shore off Sixth Street around 10 p.m., Washington County Coroner Tim Warco said in a release. Family members had called police at around 5:30 p.m. after Betters failed to report to work. Betters’ cause of death is pending an autopsy. The manner of her death is under investigation.

Sidney Dewayne Cumpston died in a crash in Burgettstown early Friday.
A Slovan man was killed early Friday morning after Washington County Coroner Tim Warco said he lost control of the pickup truck he was driving on Main Street in Burgettstown. Warco said Sidney Dewaye Cumpston, 50, of Slovan, died as a result of trauma suffered in the crash. The manner of death was ruled accidental. The crash happened just before 7 a.m. Friday, when Cumpston was driving northbound on Main Street when "he came upon a line of stopped traffic and lost control of his vehicle, crossing into the southbound lane and striking a vehicle head-on," according to a release from Warco. Cumpston was pronounced dead at the scene. State police in Washington are investingating the crash.
