News Nearby: Gang Leader Found Guilty of Conspiring to Traffic Heroin

The Canonsburg Police Department helped in the investigation that led to the conviction of a North Side man.

After deliberating for two hours, a federal jury found a North Side gang leader guilty of one count of violating federal narcotics trafficking laws, United States Attorney David J. Hickton announced Wednesday. The Canonsburg Police Department was one of several agencies that helped investigate the case, according to a release. Gregory Washington, 36, of Pittsburgh, was tried before United States District Judge Arthur J. Schwab in Pittsburgh. The evidence presented at trial established that Washington conspired to distribute and to possess with intent to distribute one kilogram or more of heroin from in or around January 2010 to March 3, 2011. Canonsburg Police Help in Federal Heroin Investigation

A Pittsburgh man this week pleaded guilty to violating federal drug trafficking laws.

The U.S. Justice Department again lauded the Canonsburg Police Department for its help in an investigation that led to a Pittsburgh man being sentenced in federal court for violating federal narcotics trafficking laws. U.S. Attorney David J. Hickton announced this week that Samuel Crawford, 23, was sentenced to serve 60 months in prison followed by five years of supervised release by U.S. District Judge Arthur J. Schwab. From January 2010 to March 3, 2011, Crawford conspired to distribute and possess with intent to distribute 100 grams or more of heroin.
