National Pet Day is Thursday, April 11, and what better time to care for your critter? Or perhaps this is the right time to adopt a new pet. According to petdayusa.com, the day was started by celebrity pet lifestyle expert and animal welfare advocate Colleen Paige in order "to celebrate the joy pets bring to our lives and to create public awareness about the plight of many different kinds of animals awaiting a forever home in shelters all across the nation." A Canonsburg woman was also cited for texting while driving, and there are DUI charges pending on another man.
Canonsburg police during Friday's Canon-McMillan varsity football game at Big Mac Stadium cited a 17-year-old girl for public drunkenness and underage drinking. Police said she was found "sitting on the floor and vomiting in the stall in the women's restroom under the home section bleacher area." The charges will proceed by summons, according to a Canonsburg police report. The teenager was released into the custody of her father. DUI Pending Canonsburg police said a charge of driving under the influence is pending against a man who allegedly rammed two legally parked cars on N. Jefferson Ave. around 3:30 a.m. Monday.
