North Strabane Woman Jailed for Allegedly Stabbing Man Following Argument Over Dog

Chelsea Tinker was remanded to the Washington County Jail Wednesday afternoon after being unable to post bond.

A North Strabane Township woman was jailed Wednesday after being charged by township police ealier this month with allegedly stabbing a man following an argument over a dog. Police filed aggravated assault, simple assault and reckless endangerment charges against Chelsea Tinker, 23, of 165 Willow St., on April 16. According to the criminal complaint, North Strabane police were dispatched to the Canonsburg General Hospital emergency room that night in regard to a man who was receiving treatment for a stab wound to the chest. The victim stated that he was engaged in an argument over a dog at 165 Willow St. when Tinker allegeldy grabbed a knife from the kitchen area and cut him as he attempted to remove the weapon from her, the criminal …

State Has Money for Canonsburg Middle School, Cecil Township and You

The Pennsylvania Treasury's Bureau of Unclaimed Property lists local organizations and businesses with money due them—and there might be some out there for you, too.

Each year, the Pennsylvania Treasury receives millions of dollars in unclaimed property, including abandoned bank accounts, forgotten stocks, uncashed checks, certificates of deposit, life insurance policies, safe deposit box contents and recovered stolen property.  Most of this unclaimed property is owed to individual residents. (Read below to find out how to search for yourself or for a relative). However, there are a number of municipalities, school districts, fire and police departments, civic groups, and other organizations that also have money waiting for them. DUI Charges Pending Against Teen Involved in Cecil Crash

Cecil Township police are awaiting the results of a blood draw.

Charges of driving under the influence are pending against an 18-year-old Cecil Township man who crashed head on into a tree on Grange Road in Cecil Township Saturday night. Cecil police said a passing motorist called 911 around 8:15 p.m. Saturday to report that a red Chevy pickup truck had struck an embankment near the car wash on Millers Run Road and then made a right on Grange Road. Officers caught up with the vehicle, it was crashed head on into a large tree on the south berm, police said. Officer said it appeared as though the driver, later identified as Allan David Hofrichter, 18, of North DePaoli Road, had failed to negotiate a slight right-hand curve in the roadway. Canonsburg General Hospital Asks You to 'Go Red'

Wear red Friday in recognition of the fight against heart disease—and check out who the special guest will be for a heart-health event late next month.

When you're getting dressed tomorrow, remember that Canonsburg General Hospital wants you to 'go red' in recognition of the fight against heart disease. But that's only the beginning. A 'Go Red!' event is slated from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. at both Canonsburg General Hospital and the Outpatient Care Center in Peters Township. The heart health awareness event will include information, screenings, demonstrations and door prizes. Obituary: Jane Riggs Baucom, Champion Golfer

She was 80.

Jane Riggs Baucom, 80, of Canonsburg, formerly of Ramsey, N.J., on Saturday, Jan. 19, 2013. Jane was preceded in death by beloved husband Keith Kendall Baucom and loving son Kendall Baucom. She was the devoted mother of Jody (Bruce) Muti and Mandy (Fred) Carragher; caring grandmother of Travis (Samantha) Muti, Kendra (Alfred Gigante) Muti, Katherine Carragher, and Andrew Carragher; and proud great-grandmother of Giada Muti and Anthony Keith Muti. Jane was a champion golfer, well-known at the Ramsey Golf and Country Club. She was a dedicated bridge player in the USABAS and a regular volunteer at Canonsburg General Hospital, and she loved to challenge herself with puzzles of all kinds. Services by Beinhauers. Canonsburg Council will hold its non-voting meeting at 7 p.m. Monday—tonight—in the borough building. To view the entire agenda, click here. Cecil Township Board of Supervisors will hold its reorganization meeting at 7 p.m. Monday—tonight—in the municipal building. The regular monthly meeting will follow. Canonsburg General Hospital will hold a CPR: Heartsaver Adult with AED class from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. Monday—today. Instructors for this class have been certified by the American Heart Association. Hospital's Annual Holiday Basket Raffle is Under Way

Last year's event raised more than $18,000.

It's not too late to get involved in the Holiday Basket Raffle, hosted by the Women’s Auxiliary at Canonsburg General Hospital.  This highly anticipated annual event has helped the Auxiliary donate more than $3 million to the hospital. Organizers say community support for this ticket/chance auction is far-reaching, with donors that include Sarris Candies, the Pittsburgh Steelers, Dave & Busters, Carnegie Science Center, Children’s Museum of Pittsburgh, Pittsburgh Opera, Andy Warhol Museum, Phipps Conservatory, The Union Grill, Levin Furniture, and the Observer-Reporter, just to name a few.  The Holiday Basket Raffle will be displayed in the main lobby of the hospital through Tuesday.  Drawing more than 1,000 people a day to view the …
