Texas Man Sentenced to Up to 20 Years in Prison for Fatally Shooting Co-Worker

The sentence was handed down Wednesday afternoon.

A Texas man who was convicted of fatally shooting an killing a co-worker at a North Strabane welding shop last year will spend between seven and 20 years in jail, a law clerk confirmed Thursday. Judge Janet Moschetta Bell imposed the sentence on Danny Kirtley, who had been convicted in September of voluntary manslaughter and two counts of aggravated assault, on Wednesday afternoon. A jury, though, had also found Kirtley not guilty of homicide in the death of Trevor Compton. The Observer-Reporter indicated on its website that the judge imposed the maximum sentence after requests from both the North Strabane Township Police Department and the office of the Washington County District Attorney. Texas Man Accused of Shooting Coworker Found Guilty of Manslaughter

A sentencing hearing for Danny Kirtley has been scheduled for Nov. 27.

A former Texas man accused of fatally shooting a coworker at a North Strabane welding shop last year was found not guilty Tuesday of third degree murder—but a jury did convict him of voluntary manslaughter and two counts of aggravated assault, according to the office of Washington County Judge Janet Moschetta Bell. A sentencing hearing for Danny Kirtley, who lived in Mount Pleasant Township prior to the incident, has been scheduled for 10 a.m. Nov. 17 before Bell, the judge’s office confirmed. Kirtley was accused of killing Trevor Compton inside a warehouse at All Occasions Party Rental on Wilson Road after an altercation.

Homicide Trial Continues, Expert Witnesses Testify

Eight expert witnesses testified Thursday at the trial of a former Texas man accused of fatally shooting one of his coworkers last year, the Observer-Reporter said on its website. The homicide trial against Danny Kirtley began Wednesday with opening arguments. Kirtley is accused of killing Trevor Compton inside a warehouse at All Occasions Party Rental on Wilson Road after an altercation last year. Kirtley, who was living in Mt. Civil Suit Filed Over North Strabane Shooting Death

The estate of a Texas man sued two companies for failing to do more to prevent the fatal incident.

The family of a man slain in a North Strabane Township warehouse has sued the companies he worked for, saying they did not do enough to prevent an encounter that led to his death. The estate of Trevor C. Compton, of Texas, said in the lawsuit filed in Allegheny County Court that Danny Keith Kirtley, 48, shot and killed Compton, 34, at a meeting in North Strabane "arranged by the management" of Rosenboom Welding & Fabrication and Angel Logistics, the Tribune-Review reported on its website. The lawsuit, filed Tuesday, seeks lost of wages, medical and funeral expenses and more than $25,000 in other losses, the paper indicated. District Judge Joshua P.
