OSHA Proposes Almost $460K in Fines Against Canonsburg Company

The U.S. Department of Labor’s Occupational Safety and Health Administration has cited Canonsburg-based Panthera Painting Inc. with 38 alleged violations—including 14 willful and 11 repeat—found at bridge work sites in Slatington, Harrisburg and Slatedale. OSHA officials said workers at those sites were exposed to lead and other safety and health hazards while performing abrasive blasting and repainting projects. Proposed penalties total $459,844. “The employer’s refusal to correct the hazards, along with its history of failing to correct hazards, demonstrates a clear resistance to worker safety and health and leaves workers vulnerable to potential illnesses and injuries from overexposure to lead and other hazards,” said MaryAnn Garrahan, …

Seats Available for Holiday Bus Tour

Get your ticket before they are gone!

Reservations are now available for the annual holiday tour of the state Capitol area, state Sen. Tim Solobay announced Monday. “Over the years, the bus tour has transformed from an event to a tradition,” Solobay said. “It’s one of the things I get the most questions about, from constituents and other lawmakers, and seats usually go pretty quickly.” The tour, scheduled for Dec. 12, will include stops at the Governor’s Mansion, the Capitol building and Hershey Chocolate World. Wounded Warriors: Honor the Heroes

Sen. Tim Solobay writes about the Wounded Warriors Project on this anniversary of the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks.

With the anniversary of the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks upon us again, it’s not only important to remember the heroes and victims of that historic day, but we should also recognize some of the good that came from that tragedy.  The Wounded Warrior Project was started by several service veterans and their friends who were moved by the stories of the first wounded service members returning from Iraq and Afghanistan. It began as a program to provide small comforts to the wounded, but has grown into a complete rehabilitative effort to assist warriors as they recover and return to civilian life. White Invites Constituents on Harrisburg Bus Trip

The Cecil Township legislator said to make your reservations now because seats go fast.

State Rep. Jesse White, D-Cecil announced he will offer a Harrisburg bus tour on TNov. 15 for residents in the 46th Legislative District.  The trip—which he said will be paid for by those participating—includes a tour of the Pennsylvania Capitol, lunch at the Capitol with White, a trip to Chocolate World in Hershey and a visit to the Hollywood Casino. "Our state Capitol is one of the most beautiful buildings in the country, and there’s also some fun to be had in Hershey and at the casino," White said.
