Snow Expected Today, Freezing Rain Tomorrow

The National Weather Service said snow showers are expected around rush hour.

No need to scurry off to the grocery store to buy the obligatory milk, bread and toilet paper: National Weather Service Meteorologist Lee Hendricks said today’s snowfall shouldn’t be a big deal. With light snow this morning and a chance of about an inch this afternoon, driver’s should nonetheless exercise caution on the roads during rush hour—which is when the flakes should really begin flying. Also on tap today? Wind gusts of up to 35 mph, he said. Another inch of the white stuff is expected overnight, when the temperature is expected to hover in the teens. But tomorrow? It might get a little ugly. Snow is expected to turn to sleet come sunset Friday, and Hendricks said that will likely spur the National Weather Service to issue a warning…

Rain, Rain Go Away

No such luck. The National Weather Service has issued a flood watch through Thursday.

The weather forecast is pretty clear: Rain, rain and more rain. In fact, the National Weather Service has issued a flood watch for the region through Thursday—thanks largely to Tropical Storm Lee and Hurricane Katia. The mercury is expected to creep up into the mid 60s today before dipping into the 50s overnight, which is a stark difference from last week’s hot and humid temperatures. “I think I preferred last week,” NWS meteorologist Lee Kendricks said early Monday. He said Hurricane Katia is slowly moving north, stalling a cold front that’s gripped the region.
