UPDATED: Portion of Muse-Bishop Road Reopened Following Crash

First responders said the accident happened around 5 a.m. Wednesday.

Editor's Note: This story was updated at 7:43 a.m. Muse-Bishop Road in Cecll Township was closed between Oak Street and Oakbrooke Drive because of a one-vehicle crash that happened around 5 a.m. Wednesday. It reopened around 7:50 a.m. First responders said the vehicle crashed into a pole, causing downed wires. The driver reportedly suffered an injury. No further information was immediately available early Wednesday.

Police: Canonsburg Man Charged with DUI After Crashing Car, Falling Asleep Behind the Wheel

The crash happened early Sunday morning on state Route 980.

Cecil Township police are charging a Canonsburg man with driving under the influence following a crash on state Route 980 early Sunday morning. Officers were dispatched to the area after Washington County 911 received a phone call from a driver who had passed the crash scene. When police arrived, officers said they discovered that the vehicle had crashed into a guard rail on state Route 980 near its intersection with Muse-Bishop—and that the driver, later identified as Allen Wargo Jr., 24, of Vista Drive, was asleep behind the wheel. Officers roused Wargo and asked him if he had been drinking. The man reportedly admitted to police that he had been drinking at home. $1 Million in Road Improvements Slated for Cecil

Editor's Note: This story was edited at 9:15 a.m. Friday. Cecil Township Board of Supervisors this week voted to proceed with the bidding process for its $1 million road program. Township Manager Don Gennuso said the board hopes to send bid packages out this month and be in a position to open the bids and award the contract next month. "The board hopes to start the project as soon as possible in the spring," Gennuso said. The project is being paid for through the township's allotment of liquid fuel money, which amounts to about $700,000. Another $250,000 of the cost will be covered by local impact fee money related to Marcellus Shale drilling, and the remaining $135,000 will be paid with the township's local share of casino revenue. Driver Swerves to Avoid Deer, Crashes Truck in Cecil

The incident happened Wednesday night.

A man who swerved to avoid hitting a deer in the area of 327 Muse-Bishop Road in Cecil was uninjured—although his truck needed to be towed from the scene Wednesday night. First responders said the roadway was closed for a short time because debris needed to be cleared—as well as the vehicle, which was blocking both lanes. Muse Volunteer Fire Department and Cecil Township Police Department responded.

Downed Tree Causes Closure on Muse-Bishop

Township Manager Don Gennuso said that motorists are advised to find an alternate route until the scene is cleared.

A large tree on Muse-Bishop Road in Cecil fell Tuesday morning, becoming ensnarled in power lines and forcing the closure of a portion of the throughway. Township Manager Don Gennuso said that as of 10:50 a.m. Muse-Bishop was still closed between McConnell and Cumer roads. Crews from the utility company were called to the scene, he said, although no further information was imediately available. It was unclear how long the road would remain closed. Gennuso advised motorists to avoid the area.

Crash Injures Two; Closes Cecil Road

Muse-Bishop Road near state Route 50 is closed in the wake of a three-vehicle accident that injured two, a Washington County 911 supervisor said.

Two people were injured in a three-vehicle crash on Muse-Bishop Road near state Route 50 in Cecil Township around 7:30 a.m. Wednesday—an incident that forced the closure of the roadway. A Washington County 911 supervisor confirmed that first responders needed to free one person who was entrapped in one of the vehicles. At least one person was flown to an area hospital for treatment. UPDATED: Road Reopened After Downed Wire Caused Closure

Muse-Bishop Road was closed from state Route 980 to Oakbrook in Cecil Township for about an hour Thursday night.

Muse-Bishop Road from state Route 980 to Oakbrooke is now reopen after being shut down for more than an hour Thursday night because of a downed live wire. The Muse Volunteer Fire Department had advised motorists to take an alternate route as it awaited for an Allegheny Power crew to arrive.
