Mylan Classic Set to Return to Southpointe Golf Club

New tournament eligibility will include top collegians in 2013.

Officials from the Mylan Classic announced Thursday that the Web.com Tour tournament will return to Southpointe Golf Club in Washington County in 2013 with the addition of a unique eligibility format that includes 12 invitations to collegiate All-Americans and other amateur standouts.  Special invitations will be extended to the reigning U.S. Amateur and the current NCAA individual champion, Jack Nicklaus Award winner (collegiate player of the year) and first-team All-Americans. The remaining invitations will go to U.S. Walker Cup team members, second-team All-Americans or the Division II player of the year. Mylan Classic Announces Record Ticket Sales

And the ANSYS TICKETS Fore CHARITY program benefits local charities.

Officials from the Mylan Classic announced this week that the tournament has topped $1.3 million in charitable contributions since 2010—primarily through the ANSYS TICKETS Fore CHARITY program. The event, held at the Southpointe Golf Club, already has raised more than $530,000 for participating charities in 2012. Last year, the tournament generated approximately $458,000 in ticket sales and bonus pool distributions; in 2010, proceeds were about $277,000.  TICKETS Fore CHARITY is a PGA TOUR co-sponsored program developed by Jeff Sanders Promotions, a Portland-based sports marketing company, and organizers of the Web.com Tour’s Albertsons Boise Open Presented by Kraft. Mylan Classic organizers are making things simple for local folks who want to check out the national event. “Golf, music, clinics all for $25—all for charity,” organizers noted in a release. Free Youth Golf Clinic Slated During Mylan

The fun starts next week.

Parents, grab your cameras and get ready to head out to the Mylan Classic next week for a free golf clinic for the kids. The interactive Washington Financial Youth Clinic kicks off at 6 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 28 at the Southpointe Golf Club—and will include demonstrations from the pros. First-Ever Energy Symposium Slated During Mylan Classic

The event is scheduled to run from Aug. 29 through Aug. 31.

To educate local elected officials and businesses about the energy industry and to drive economic development in Washington County, officials from the Washington County Chamber of Commerce and Washington County Energy Partners announced their first-ever energy symposium, which is slated for Aug. 29 through Aug. 31—during the Mylan Classic. The Mylan Classic is a PGA Tour-sanctioned event on the Web.com Tour that will be held at the Southpointe Golf Club. The symposium, hosted by America’s National Gas Alliance, will feature three days of energy-related events, and will feature experts from the industry, business and government. Mylan Classic Tops $1 Million in Charity Ticket Sales

Four months remain until the tournament begins this year; $265,000 raised for charities this year.

The Mylan Classic tournament has topped $1 million in charity ticket sales since 2010 through the ANSYS TICKETS Fore CHARITY program. With four months remaining until the third annual Mylan Classic begins, the Nationwide Tour event already has raised more than $265,000 for participating charities in 2012. Mylan Classic Concert Series Lineup Set

Craig Morgan, Phil Vassar and Diamond Rio to headline this year's concert series at the late August event.

Craig Morgan, Phil Vassar, Diamond Rio, Due West, Joe Grushecky and Scott Blasey of The Clarks will be featured in the Mylan Classic’s 2012 concert series. The series will highlight the Mylan Classic’s seven-day schedule of events which begin on Monday, Aug. 27. As a community event, the Mylan Classic offers both championship golf and entertainment for the whole family. The Mylan Classic launched its TICKETS Fore CHARITY program this week.

Officials from the Mylan Classic—which will again be held in Southpointe this year—announced this week that ANSYS Inc. will again be the sponsor of the tournament’s TICKETS Fore CHARITY program. In 2011, the tournament generated more than $453,000 for participating non-profit organizations through ANSYS TICKETS Fore CHARITY.
