National Weather Service Warns of Freezing Rain, Icy Roads

NWS issues winter weather advisory.

Expect freezing rain and ice accumulations of about a tenth of an inch on Friday. That's the word from the National Weather Service. It issued a winter weather advisory that is in effect from 5 a.m. to 6 p.m. Friday. The freezing rain is expected to begin between 5 a.m. and 7 a.m. and end between 3 and 6 p.m. The National Weather Service warns of hazardous travel conditions because of ice-covered roads. Winds of 5 to 10 mph with gusts up to 20 mph are also forecast. A winter weather advisory means freezing rain will cause travel difficulties.
