Chair Prematurely Placed On Pike As Borough Reminds Residents of New Parade Rules

At least one chair had been prematurely placed along the Canonsburg Fourth of July Parade Route this past weekend.

Now, members of the Fourth of July Committee are reminding residents exactly when the deadline is for parade-goers to secure their spot to watch one of the biggest fourth of july fetes in the state.

Here's what the committee posted on its Facebook page Monday:

"...The chairs can't be placed until 6 a.m., JULY 2. We recommend that you check the borough website at canonsburgboro.com and please direct any chair questions to them from this point on to avoid any further confusion. We knew that chairs could be placed on July 2 we just had the time wrong. This is the first year for the ordinance and confusion sometimes happens. Again our apologies but at least we're all on the same page now. Please be safe when placing your chairs and have a great fourth!"

Canonsburg Council approved an ordinance stating that chairs could be placed out 48 hours prior to the holiday after public safety issues surfaced last year.
