Councilwoman: New Canonsburg Borough Manager Hire Expected in June

Interviews for the final seven candidates starts tonight.

Canonsburg Councilwoman Fran Coleman said she hopes a new borough manager will be in place next month.

Coleman, who is heading the committee charged with finding a candidate for the position, said that council received 37 applications for the position.

She said that with the help of Michael Foreman, who is the regional local government specialist with the Governor's Center for Local Government Services, the committee overseeing the hiring process has whittled the field to just seven candidates.

The committee, composed of Coleman and Councilmen Rich Russo and Joe McGarry, will interview the first four candidates Wednesday night. The remaining three candidates will be interviewed Thursday night.

Coleman said the committee will then submit the names of the finalists to council for final approval.

"I'd like to see a vote in June," she said.

Council accepted the resignation of the borough's former manager, Terry Hazlett, in February. The office has been vacant all this month.
