Free Movie in the Park, 'Touch a Truck' Event Slated This Weekend

The fun starts Saturday morning.

Looking for free family fun this weekend?

Local families are invited to attend two events being sponsored by North Strabane Parks and Recreation—and the festivities kick off in the municipal park Saturday morning.

That's when kids will be able to get up close and personal with trucks of all kinds.

The "Touch a Truck" event will feature 20 pieces of equipment and will feature fire and police vehicles, as well as those operated by Waste Management and more.

The event will be held from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

A disc jockey will fill the summer air with music, and the concession stand will be open for those seeking refreshments.

But the fun continues Sunday, when the department will host a Movie in the Park event.

Families will have a chance to watch "Alvin and the Chipmunks: Chipwrecked" at 8:30 p.m. Sunday at the park.

Parks and Recreation Director Greg Sulc said the movies are offered free, and so is the popcorn to go along with them.

He noted that the movies will be screened at the upper baseball field, and that the concession stand will be open.
